Which number should clients call?
When you turn on your AI Front Desk, Scheduley provisions a local phone number for your business — you pick the area code in the Agent tab. That gives you a choice about which number your clients see, and both setups are fully supported. Most businesses land in one of two camps:
Option 1: Make your Scheduley number the number
Put your Scheduley number on your website, Google Business Profile, social bios, and cards — it is your business line. Every call is answered, every text gets a reply, and there’s nothing to configure on your personal phone.
- Best for: new businesses, or anyone whose current “business number” is really a personal cell they’d rather keep private.
- Calls and texts match: clients call and text one number, and your AI answers both on it. Booking confirmations and reminders come from the same number clients already know.
- Your cell stays yours: when a caller needs you personally, the agent can transfer the call or text you the details — your personal number is never shown. See routing options.
Option 2: Keep your number out front, Scheduley behind it
Already on vans, signage, and years of Google reviews? Keep advertising the number you own and forward it to your Scheduley number — either every call, or only the calls you can’t get to (recommended). Clients keep dialing the number they know; your AI Front Desk picks up behind it.
- Best for: established businesses with a number that’s already everywhere.
- You stay in control: with conditional forwarding your phone still rings first — Scheduley catches what you miss.
- Good to know: booking confirmation and reminder texts still come from your Scheduley number, so clients will see it alongside your main line. That’s normal — think of it as your business’s texting line.
Or mix the two
Plenty of businesses do both: the established number stays the one on the van, forwarded so nothing gets missed — while the Scheduley number goes places the old number never lived, like an Instagram bio, a marketplace listing, or a new ad campaign. Either way, every call and text lands on the same calendar. For the bigger picture of running Scheduley alongside what you already have, see ways to use Scheduley.
