When someone finds you on Google Maps, they’re already mid-decision. A Book online button on your Google Business Profile turns that moment into a scheduled appointment — no phone tag, no “I’ll call later” that never happens. Here’s how to set it up.
What you need first
- A verified Google Business Profile you can edit
- A live booking URL clients can use on mobile (your Scheduley booking page works great)
- About five minutes
If you don’t have a booking page yet, start with how to set up online booking and publish & share your Scheduley link.
Add the booking button (Google Business Profile)
- Open business.google.com and select your location
- Find Edit profile (or the place Google currently puts Buttons / contact actions — the UI moves slightly)
- Add or edit the Book / appointment link action
- Paste your booking URL exactly (https, no tracking junk if you can avoid it)
- Save and check the button on your live Maps listing from your phone
Which URL should you use?
Use the page where a stranger can pick a service and finish booking without logging in. For Scheduley that’s your public booking link (or your full website’s book CTA if that’s where booking lives). Don’t link to your Instagram bio tree, a PDF menu, or a homepage with no book button above the fold.
Common mistakes
- Linking to an unpublished page — always test in an incognito window
- Desktop-only booking flows — Maps traffic is mostly mobile
- Forgetting hours / services on the booking page — empty calendars kill trust
- Not mentioning the button elsewhere — also put the same link in your website header and Google posts when you run promos
Pair it with the phone
Some people will still call from Maps. That’s fine — your AI receptionist should book the same openings the Google button does, so web and phone never disagree. Same calendar, same rules: booking rules.
Where Scheduley fits
Publish once in Scheduley, paste the link into Google Business Profile, and keep taking calls with the AI Front Desk against the same inventory. Guides: create your booking page and publish & share.
Frequently asked questions
Does Google charge for the booking button? No — it’s a free profile feature. (Paid Google Ads are separate.)
Can I use Reserve with Google / third-party widgets? Sometimes, depending on category and partners. A direct link to your own booking page is the simplest path and keeps the client on your system.
How long until the button shows? Usually quickly after save; if it’s missing, confirm the profile is verified and view the public listing (not only the editor).
